1/10/04 Winter Series #1, 2 miles

Kicks off the 2004 Winter Series, the first of five events. The 2 mile run starts at 9 a.m. at Wyoming Oil & Gas Commission's Basko Building at 1st and Poplar across from Hardee's. Come early to register and pay your 2004 membership fees. Members can prepay for all 5 series events for a discounted price of $25. $7 member, $10 nonmember, $5 students. Registration for all Winter Series events begins at 8 a.m.


1/31/04 Winter Series #2, 5K

Run starts at 9 a.m. and registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Old Town Family & Amusement Center located behind the Parkway Plaza Hotel. This is a NEW location for this event. Entry fee: $7 member, $10 nonmember, $5 students.


2/14/04 Winter Cowboy State Games, 4 miles

Register at the concession stand next to the North Casper Soccer Complex starting at 7:30 am. The 4 mile course will be on the Platte River Parkway trail with race starting at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $20. Early registration is available thru the Cowboy State Games. Registration will be accepted 30 minutes before the race. Contact Todd Condelario 307-237-1721 for more info. There are 13 age categories. 2/28/04 Winter Series #3, 4 miles

Register at the terminal building at Natrona County International Airport. The event will start at 9 a.m. and the course will be held on Airport grounds roads. Entry fee: $7 member, $10 nonmember. Registration starts at 8 a.m.


3/20/04 Winter Series #4, 5 miles

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Lifetime Health and Fitness located 300 Landmark Lane (east of Eastridge Mall). The event will start at 9 a.m. Entry fee: $7 member, $10 nonmember.


4/3/04 Winter Series #5, 10K

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the shelter at Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park. The event will start at 9 a.m. Entry fee: $7 member, $10 nonmember.


4/17/04 Boys and Girls Club Runs

The Boys and Girls Club Run is being staged to encourage the younger people of Casper toward a more healthy lifestyle and to enable them to enjoy an organized running/walking event in our community. There will be an one kilometer event for children eight and under, a one mile event for kids from nine to fourteen, and a 5K run/walk for Boys and Girls of all ages from 15 to 105. All three events will be out and back courses starting from the Boys and Girls Club at 353 West A Street and proceeding to the Platte River Parkway. The 1K will start at 8:30 am, with the 1 mile and 5K to follow. The expected starting time for the 5K will be 9 am. All early registrants will receive a t-shirt on the day of the run/walk. Registration Fees will be $15 and $5 for children 14 and under. Late registration for the 5K will be $20. Contact: Phil Brown.


5/15/04 Support our Troops 5K run and 1 mile walk

All proceeds for this event will benefit the 651st QM Co. Family Readiness Group welcome home celebration for the deployed soldiers and their families. Start time is 9 am at Parkway Plaza Old Town. Entry fee is $17 before May 7th and $20 day of race. Participants will receive t-shirts.

5/30/04 Laramie, Wyoming Marathon

1/2 Marathon, Marathon, and Double Marathon. COURSE: Hilly out and back on mostly dirt and gravel roads (half marathon is 100% dirt and gravel, marathon is 77% dirt and gravel) in Medicine Bow National Forest. Begins at 8,640 feet and drops to 7,500 feet at the turn around. LOCATION: Lincoln Monument Rest Area, 10 miles east of Laramie, Wyoming.

6/??/04 Buffalo Triathlon

Based on the year 2003 race... 4.2 mile run / 14 mile bike / swim 36 length YMCA pool, Start, exchange & finish at Johnson County Family YMCA, 101 Klondike Drive, (307)-684-9558. Age divisions for solo men & women, men & women team divisions. Preregister by May 24th for $20, later for $25.


6/12/04 5K Doggie Dash & 10K Zack Murphy Memorial Run/Walk

These events will support the Douglas Animal Shelter. The 5K and 10K Run/Walks will start at the Douglas National Guard Armory at 8 a.m. There will also be a best ball golf scramble at 1 p.m. Contact: Pete Zellner.


6/19/04 Summer Solstice 4 miler

Registration (Free) at Old Town starting at 9 pm, either inside building or on patio to west of food court. This 4 miler starts at 10 pm with course from Old Town east along the PRP, turn around about 50 yards west of 1 Mi E sign, then back to Old Town.

Course will go past Lansing Field where the Rockies will be playing their second home game of the season, against the Provo Angels. According to the Rockies schedule that I have, there are supposed to be fireworks that night.

It will be a new moon that night so it will be dark, people should bring flashlights, headlamps or other illumination devices. Prizes will be given to each entrant. Contact person is Wendy Owens


6/24/04 The Brain Drain Night Time Race, Lander, WY

This event takes place Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Lander. In addition to the 5K and 10K runs are: the 1 mile and 5K walk and wheelchair course, and kid's bike race. 6/26/04 Pilot Hill 25K Trail run & Valley 8K, Laramie, WY

The High Plains Harriers reports: "Registration begins at 7 am at Ivinson Hospital on the corner of 30th St. and Willet. Race start will be 8 am. If you do not feel up to a long run, join us for the Valley 8K. 8K participants run the 25K course for about 3 miles before turning downhill to the finish. 6/26/04 20th Flaming Gorge 5K, Green River, WY

The 20th Flaming Gorge 5K is June 26th. Entry fee of $10 includes T-shirts, award, and refreshments. Course starts at Jackson School and joins the Green Belt ending at the Game and Fish. Contact: Terry Pawleska.


7/4/04 The 24th Annual Lander Half Marathon, Lander, WY

Based on the 2003 year race... The 25th Annual Lander Half Marathon will be held in Lander on July 4, 2004. The race starts at 7:00 a.m. with start/finish at Centennial Park by the corner of 2nd and Main Streets. There will be four aid stations along the route. Walkers start at 6:15 am.

Preregistration until 5 p.m. on July 2nd with fees of $15. Race day registration is from 6:00 to 6:45 am with fees of $25. Entry fee includes t-shirt. Medals to be awarded to age division places 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Course follows a beautiful rolling loop on paved country roads in the scenic foothills of the Wind River Mountains. Total elevation gain and loss is 640 feet.

7/13/04 Casper Chase

The Casper Chase will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2004 marking the start of the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo parade. The 5K road race begins at 9:20 a.m., with start/finish line at 7th & Center streets. The 1K Kids fun run begins at 9:10 a.m., at City Park (Center & 7th streets), with the course on the sidewalk around the park. View the 5K course.

Participants of both events can pick up race bib numbers and packets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Park (Center & 7th) on Monday the 12th or from 6:30 am to 8:30 am on race day. Preregister to guarantee your packet. Late entries will also be accepted during those times. Male and female first, second, and third place awards will be given in each age category as well as overall male and female. Note: instead of t-shirts participants will receive a Casper Chase commemorative item.

Entry fees are $5 for the Kids Fun Run and $15 for adults before July 9th, $20 after July 9th. The nonrefundable entry fee includes Casper Chase commemorative item, goody bag, and post-race snacks. Last year there were 128 runners for the 5K run. For the safety of all runners, baby strollers, roller blades/skates, head sets, and pets will not be allowed. 7/24/04 Heather Kelly / Jim Borgerding Memorial Run/Walk

This 5K run and 2 mile walk, is a memorial event held to honor the memory of longtime Strider members Heather Kelly and Jim Borgerding. Start time is 8 a.m. Start/finish is located on the pathway adjacent to Crossroads Park (and Mike Lansing Field). The 5K course will be an out and back on the asphalt Platte River Parkway path with turnaround at the pedestrian bridge (near N. Casper Soccer Complex).

8/7/04 Deer Creek Days

Based on the 2003 year race... This 5K race is held at Glenrock (25 miles east of Casper) on Saturday August 7, beginning at 7 a.m., registration from 6:00 to 6:50 a.m. Entry fee is $15 and includes T-shirts. Start line and registration is at Glenrock's South Recreation Complex, go south of Glenrock on Mormon Canyon Road about 2 miles, turn right after passing under I-25 (no interstate access ramp here), and go west to the Recreation Complex (campground/ball fields/rodeo arena). 8/7/04 Klondike Rush 10K/5K Run & 5K Walk

Based on the 2003 year race... The 24th annual Klondike Rush 10K/5K run and 5K walk will be held Sat. 7th, at 8 a.m. in Buffalo, WY. Registration before August ?? is $20 adults ($15 under age 13), fees after the ?? is $30 adults ($25 youth). Check in by 7 a.m. to receive bib number and t-shirt. Awards to top 3 male and female overall and age groups.

Both 10K and 5K start together at the YMCA. Course for 10K: south from YMCA on Klondike drive with hills for first 2.8 miles (county road), 0.5 miles on ranch road, last 2.1 miles is gentle downhill on pavement. Course for 5K: runners split from 10K route at RR engine #105 through the city park, up Fetterman St. to Clear Creek running path, then to YMCA.

8/7/04 Spearfish Canyon Half Marathon & 5K Walk

Registration: Fee is $20/runners and $15/walkers. No pre-registration. On-site registration begins at 6:15 and concludes at 6:50. Busses will leave at 6:55 to travel up the Canyon to the race start.

Location: Registration will take place in Spearfish City Park on Canyon Street in Spearfish, SD.   

Race Course: Slightly downhill, paved course through scenic Spearfish Canyon with 4 water stops. 

Awards: Medals presented to top 3 runners in each age group as well as to each race finisher. Door prizes drawn for runners and walkers. T-shirts and refreshments provided to all runners and walkers.

8/21/04 Shane Shatto Memorial & Remember the Wyoming Eight 5K & 10K Run & Walk

This is a run/walk to remember Shane Shatto and the other seven Wyoming Cross Country runners. Shane was a local athlete/student from Douglas, a member of the volunteer fire department when he was not attending school, and a member of the University of Wyoming Cross country team. He was one of the eight UW runners killed after Sept 11th by a drunk driver.

Registration will be at the Douglas Armory (Southeast of McDonalds) beginning at 7:00 a.m. with both 5K & 10K Run/Walks beginning at 8:30 a.m. Entry fee is $15 and includes a T-shirt along with post race refreshments and drawing prizes. Proceeds will go to the Shane Shatto Memorial scholarship fund.

8/28/04 Garden Creek Sneak

This event replaces the Casper Mountain Challenge. Race starts at 8 a.m., registration begins at 7 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 4700 S. Poplar. First 30 registered will receive a dri-release t-shirt. Entry fees: $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Volunteers are welcomed.

Course: St. Stephen's church on Poplar, up Garden Creek, down Mountain Road, across Goodstein to Poplar and finish.


9/4/04 Red Lodge, Montana Fun Run for Charities (5K & 10K)

The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation is sponsoring a 5K run, 10K run, and 2 Mile Fun Walk and costume competition to benefit local nonprofit organizations. 9/18/04 Jelm Mountain Run, 11 miler

Based on year 2003 event... Jelm Mountain is located approximately 30 miles west of Laramie in the Medicine Bow mountains. The 11 mile course is an up and back on unimproved roads with start/finish at 7,600 feet and turnaround at 9,656 feet. Five aid stops will be provided. Registration fee is $25 (or $30 day of race) and fee without sweatshirt is $10. Awards to top finishers and door prize drawings.

Directions to start: Highway 230 west of Laramie to Woods Landing. Turn south (cross Laramie River) on State Hwy. 10, go three miles to base of Jelm Mountain. There is a sign for the Wyoming Infrared Observatory on the road, this is the start/finish.

9/25/04 NoSnoSki Run

This 10k, 20K, and 20K relay benefits the Casper Mountain Ski Patrol. Start time is 9 a.m. at Basko Building with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Course continues west to Zonata Park on 13th Street and back for the 10K finish and first half of the 20K. The 20K course then continues east to the soccer fields and back. The Relay teams can be made of 2, 3, or 4 runners.

Registration costs for the races are $15 per person for preregistration or $20 on race day. Relay teams pay on a per person basis. All runners will receive a t-shirt and post race refreshments and door prizes. All profits go to support the Casper Mountain Ski Patrol.


10/30/04 Halloween 4 Mile Run, Kids 1K

The Halloween four miler and Kids 1K run will be held October 30, 2004 at 9 am. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in the Willow Room.

Cost is $7 for members, $10 for non-members, $5 if you wear a costume. Kids run 12 and under $5, this includes a t-shirt (only kids) and a goody bag.

Course will start at Holiday Inn and go towards the soccer fields. Refreshments and prizes after the race.


11/20/04 Turkey Trot, 5K

The Turkey Trot will be held at Edness Kimball Wilkins starting at 9 a.m. Registration is two cans of food or $10 non-member, $7 member. There will be drawings for door prizes.
