The Windy City Striders annual meeting took place Saturday, November 19, at Old Chicago Pizza.
1) Treasurers Report
Phil Brown gave the treasurers report. We are in the black, with 2006 income of $6495.00 ($300 of which constitutes 2006 membership fees that have already been paid) and expenses of $4488.04. Income from membership fees was down this year, but income from race entry fees was up substantially. The Casper Marathon also contributed to the CWCS for services provided by the CWCS.
It was moved and seconded to approve the treasurers report. Motion carried.
2) Colorado Runner Magazine
It was moved and seconded to poll those in attendance at the first Winter Series race as to whether to continue receiving Colorado Runner. Motion carried. Therefore, it has not yet been decided whether to continue receiving Colorado Runner.
3) Winter Series
The first Winter Series race will be held on Saturday, December 17. The venue has not yet been determined but should be determined within the next week or so.
The rest of the Winter Series, as well as the rest of the 2006 race calendar, will be set at the first board meeting, to be held on December 1.
4) Door prize winners:
Free 2006 membership: Phil Brown
Free CWCS race entries for 2006: Amy Daley
Free 2006 Casper Marathon entry (donated by Casper Marathon): Scott Bergey
Pumpkin pies: Mike Wilkinson; Paul Sorensen
5) Results of officer/board election:
Your 2006 officers and board members are:
President: Wendy Owens (yes you have to put up with me for another year)
Vice President: Dawn Easton
Treasurer: Phil Brown
Secretary/Public Relations: Lee Wood
Newsletter Editor: Dianna Steinberg
Casper Chase Representative: Genelle Bonnel
Casper Marathon Representative: Eric Easton
At large board member: Barb Deininger
It was moved and seconded to approve the above slate of officers and board members. Motion carried.
6) Recognition of outgoing board members:
The Board recognized Doreen Ramirez for her hard work these past three years as Vice President. Doreen has worked almost every Striders race for the past three years, and she made sure that we had outstanding Winter Series prizes those years (the jackets in 2003, the fleece shirts and t-shirts in 2004, and the bags and long sleeve shirts in 2005).
The Board also recognized Chris Corlis for his service this past year on the board. Chris was the Casper Chase representative and helped out with several races.
7) Della Works asked to address the club. She thanked the Board for the lifetime CWCS membership which the Board awarded to her in honor of her 70th birthday and her status as the club's "goodwill ambassador."
No further business coming before the club, the meeting was adjourned.
