Purchase your 2012 Windy City Strider Membership at the race, save on 2012 race entry fees!
Family: $40.00/yr (up to 6)
Single: $25.00/yr

2011 Board Meeting

November 8, 2011

Hello Striders and Friends,

Every year after the Turkey Trot it has been the Striders’ tradition to have a board meeting to elect new board members for the upcoming year.  After the Turkey Trot on Nov. 19th, we will be meeting at Godfather’s Pizza at 12:30pm to discuss the great changes for next year.  If you enjoy running our races and think that you could commit to one of the positions below, or you have a great idea you would like to share, or maybe you want to come and learn more about what the Striders are about; whatever your reason is for coming, please support your running club!

We need at least 10 people to volunteer, one for each of the positions listed below.  All board members will get to run 1 race for free, for each race they put together. (Example: If you help put together Winter Series Race #1, you can run #2 for FREE!) How can you beat that?! I listed each position separately with the list of duties you would be responsible to complete.  If we cannot get 10 people to commit to helping with our club, I don’t think it will continue for 2012.  We really need people to step up and help us out.

The help we got this year was tremendous! Thank you so much to those of you who helped! I hope this better explains what the jobs entail and how easy it can be for everyone! If you have any questions about anything or would like me to add something, please let me know! If you are hesitant to take on a position, please know that I/we would be happy to help you out and show you how everything is done. I fancy myself a great teacher! :) If I can do it, so can you! :) All the positions are very easy, they just take a little time. If you think you would like to become a board member or attend the board meeting, please RSVP by Friday, Nov. 18th. I look forward to seeing you on the 19th!  ~Adrienne

Trail Run – Crossroads

February 8, 2011

Striders:

I am planning to put together a very low-key trail run Saturday February 26, 2011 at Crossroads ball fields below the Casper Events Center. This will give you a chance to test your winter legs on the trails in and around the Crossroads Recreation Area in a very non-competitive manner, if you choose. See details below.

WHEN: Saturday Feb, 26th
TIME: 9:00 am
WHERE: Crossroads Recreation Complex (off POPLAR ST. – below the Casper Events Center)
CATEGORIES: Competitive (2 laps) and Non-Competitive (1 lap)
ENTRY: FREE, FREE, FREE!!!
COURSE DESCRIPTION: 4.5 mile (per lap) fun trail run through majestic rolling prairie with perfect soil conditions and NO WIND! This is a trail run so be prepared to run amongst antelope, rabbits, sagebrush, yucca and the “occasional” cactus!

In case of inclement weather or course conditions, preparations will be made if course conditions are too muddy. Inclement weather? It’s February in Wyoming – come prepared!

**NOTE** This trail run is self sufficient, therefore, no aid stations will be provided.

AWARDS: Due to the low-key nature of this event and no entry fee, no awards will be given. We are just running for the fun, fitness & camaraderie! To follow the honor system, there will be a finish line clock and note pad to write down your name and finishing time. If all goes well, maybe this could turn into a spring series and I’ll keep track of runner’s finishes and have a small “series end award” to be given to the top 3 in each class.

If you have any questions or comments, please email or call and leave a message. If you know of anyone that may be interested but not on this email list, please forward this information.
